6 agreements and memoranda of understanding in the meeting of the Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council


His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, chaired the first meeting of the Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Riyadh today. Six agreements and memoranda of understanding were also signed between the two sides in areas, most notably investment and education.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation, looking forward to positive results that meet the aspirations of the leaderships of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, and said: “The great attention that the honorable leadership attaches to everything that pushes bilateral relations to broader horizons is evidence of the depth of this relationship. The history since the era of the founding King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud and the distinguished relationship with Sheikh Mubarak bin Sabah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah – may God rest their souls – up to the prosperous era under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his brother, His Highness, the Emir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah May God preserve them.”

His Highness indicated that this meeting is a clear indication of the sincere desire of both countries to develop and diversify relations, and to strive to devote bilateral cooperation in various fields of mutual benefits and common interests, adding: “Our security is one, our interests are interlinked, and our goals are common, and we consider activating this council a factor. Strongly to raise the level of coordination and consultation between us, whether at the bilateral or multilateral level, on all issues of concern to our two countries in the region and the world, which will push strongly towards deepening the common denominators that bind our two countries.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs explained that the negative effects of the Corona virus pandemic contributed to the decrease in the volume of trade between the two countries, hoping that this would improve in the near future, taking into account that the intensification of mutual visits by businessmen, the encouragement of exports, and the overcoming of all obstacles that prevent an increase in trade exchange compared to the great potential. The investment and trade opportunities available in the two countries will contribute well to the increase and growth of bilateral trade.

6 Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding

Prince Faisal bin Farhan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait signed a cooperation agreement between the governments of the Kingdom and Kuwait in the field of youth, a memorandum of understanding between the two countries in the field of sports, and a memorandum of understanding in the field of encouraging direct investment, and a technical cooperation program in various fields of standardization was signed between the Saudi Authority The Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad Al-Sheikh, signed with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of education between the two countries, and a memorandum of cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research.

Signing the business statement of the meeting

At the end of the meeting, the two sides signed a work statement for the first meeting of the Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council in King Faisal Hall in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting was attended from the Saudi side by Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khalid, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ ambassador to Kuwait, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Security Affairs Muhammad bin Muhanna Al-Muhanna, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political and Economic Affairs Ambassador Eid bin Muhammad Al-Thaqafi, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs Ambassador Tamim bin Majid Al-Dosari. Major General Misfer Al Ghanem, Head of the Armed Forces Operations Authority at the Ministry of Defense, Jaber Al-Mishal, Undersecretary of the General Authority for Foreign Trade for International Relations, Khaled Al-Ghamdi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy for Petroleum and Gas Affairs, Mansour Al-Khudair.
