Another leap in infections: 21,273 new cases (with fewer tampons). The victims are 128: the bulletin

In Italy, at least since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic 525.782 people (+21.273 compared to yesterday, + 4.2%; yesterday +19,644) contracted the Sars-CoV-2 virus. Of these, 37,338 died (+128, + 0.3%; yesterday +151) and 266.203 have been discharged (+2.086, + 0.8%; yesterday +2.309). Currently the positive subjects of which there is certainty are 222,241 (+19.059, + 9.4%; yesterday +17.180) and are visible in the fifth column from the right of the table above; the count rises to 525,782 – as mentioned above – if there are also dead and cured people in the calculation, counting all the people who have been found positive for the virus since the beginning of the epidemic.

THE tampons They were 161,880, which is 15,789 less than yesterday when it was 177,669. While the rate of positivity grows: around today at 13% (precisely 13.1%). It means 13 out of 100 swabs performed were positive; yesterday it was 11% (precisely 11.05%). This percentage gives the idea of the increase in infections, regardless of the number of tests carried out: in fact, with fewer swabs there are more cases.

Jump in the daily infections: there are over 21,000, a figure never recorded. Another record on record, above 19 thousand for the third consecutive time. To keep the epidemiological curve in a rapid climb – and to avoid a generalized lockdown, as premier Giuseppe Conte said – new restrictive measures have been introduced (here the text of the Dpcm). At the moment, the national Rt index is 1.5 and the situation is rapidly deteriorating. The increase in hospitalized is worrying: some Regions already have more than a thousand patients in Covid wards and are showing the first signs of health stress. Without forgetting the difficulties of activating contact tracing with five-digit national daily data.

The region most affected is the Lombardy for the thirteenth consecutive day which for the first time exceeds 5 thousand positives in 24: there are 5,762. Immediately after above 2 thousand there are: the Campania (+2.590) and the Piedmont (+2,287). But the virus is expanding throughout the country: just look at the percentages of new positives compared to the previous day – visible below in the details of the cases by Region by Region – ranging from 2 to 7%.

THE hospitalized patients with symptoms are 12.006 (+719, + 6.4%; yesterday +738), while the most seriously ill in intensive care I’m 1,208 (+80, + 7.1%; yesterday +79). These data are visible in the table above, in the left columns next to the names of the Regions. The greater number of patients in hospital is located in Lombardy which has 2,326 hospitalized (+173 compared to yesterday) and 231 in intensive care (+18 compared to yesterday). Then there are: Piedmont with 1,601 hospitalized (+118 compared to yesterday) and 94 in intensive care (+6 compared to yesterday), Lazio with 1,476 hospitalized (+38 compared to yesterday) and 146 in intensive care (+5 compared to yesterday) and Campania with 1,151 hospitalized (+33 compared to yesterday) and 113 in intensive care (+5 compared to yesterday).

There are three regions without victims, while those that register more deaths: Lombardy (+25), Tuscany (+14), Veneto (+12), Piedmont (+11), Sicily (+11) and Abruzzo (+11). Below the details of the deaths Region by Region.
