DECRYPTION – Women can wander for weeks or even months with their pain without knowing that they can be helped.
Currently, in France, breast cancer affects one in eight women. We often talk about the difficulties associated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments, but little mention is made of surgical interventions and the resulting mutilations.
However, each woman diagnosed with breast cancer must undergo so-called curative surgery. This is called mastectomy (removal of a breast) or lumpectomy (removal of the tumor), possibly accompanied by axillary dissection (removal of the lymph nodes in the axillary cavity). After the curative surgeries and the treatments comes, for those who wish it and for whom it is possible, a road towards the reconstruction, which can represent between three and seven surgical operations: it is the secondary reconstruction. In some cases, it is done at the same time as the mastectomy: it is immediate reconstruction, which despite everything very often requires interventions
