I’m 11,068 new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday they were +13.532, here the bulletin). Thus rises to at least 2,721,879 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I’m 221 (yesterday they were +311), for a total of 93,577 victims from February 2020. While the people recovered or discharged I’m 2,225,519 overall: 9,469 those that came out of the Covid nightmare today (+13,973 yesterday). He positive current – the subjects who have the virus – appear to be in all 402,783, equal to +1.370 compared to yesterday (-761 the day before). The current total positives start to grow again: this figure was decreasing since January 25 due to the fact that the healed, added to the deaths, were always in greater numbers than the new cases.
The death toll in 24 falls again: the number of deaths is lowest of 2021, after the previous low recorded on Sunday 31 January of 237 deaths. Warning: we are in the weekend and the reduction could be affected by incomplete data. The deaths – below the threshold of 300 in 2021 – were in fact recorded on 7 February (Sunday, +270 deaths), 31 January (Sunday, +237 deaths) and 24 January (Sunday, +299 deaths). It should be noted, in fact, that the lowest data of the victims were always communicated on Sunday. This number, that is 211 dead, however, is close to that of the beginning of November, for example on November 1st the deaths were 208, while on November 2nd the deaths were 233. No region has zero deaths, while the greatest number of bereaved it is in Emilia-Romagna (+41), Sicily (+24) and Lombardy (+21).
Tampons and infections in 24 hours
THE total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 205,642, or 84,892 less than yesterday when it was 290,534. While the rate of positivity is 5.4% (the approximation of 5.38%): it means that out of 100 swabs performed more than 5 were positive; yesterday it was 4.6%. Here is the map of the contagion in Italy.
Less infections in 24 hours than yesterday, compared to fewer tampons. It always happens on Sunday due to the low number of analyzes processed (those made on Saturday). And the case report on tampons rises to 5.4% from 4.6% on Saturday. From the comparison with last Sunday (February 7), when +11,641 cases were communicated with a rate of 5.6%, it does not seem to us that there are many changes, beyond a small decrease in both positives and percentages. The circulation of variants is of concern. Walter Ricciardi, scientific advisor to the Minister of Health, proposes an immediate lockdown “intense and limited in time”. “The total lockdown – explains Ricciardi – can only work if accompanied by a resumption of tests and tracing when the cases will be less than 50 per 100 thousand inhabitants, and by a full blown vaccination”. At present, contract tracing is not yet possible.
Most affected are always Lombardy (+1.987 cases with over 30 thousand tests) e Campania (+1.603) – a trend that has remained unchanged for days – followed byEmilia Romagna (+1.323) above one thousand. All other regions have a two- or three-digit increment, except the Aosta Valley marking +5 infected, at its lowest since 11 February.
The health system
The decline in ordinary hospitalizations continues, but intensive care increases. The beds occupied in ordinary Covid wards I’m -51 (yesterday -236), for a total of 18,449 hospitalized. THE beds occupied in intensive care (ICU) I’m +23 (yesterday -33), bringing the total of more seriously ill to 2,085. The variation in the number of beds occupied, in the critical and non-critical area, indicates the balance between the patients who left and those who entered in the last 24 hours: it does not mean that there are no new hospitalized patients. In fact, i new additions to TI I’m +126 (yesterday +118).
The data on the vaccinated
THE citizens vaccinated I’m over 2.9 million those who received the first dose and more than 1.2 million who took the booster. Here the map updated every evening and here the real-time data from the “Vaccines anti Covid-19” report on the government website.
Here all the bulletins from 29 February. Here the latest news of the day.
