In Italy 17,012 new cases and 141 deaths. There are more than 124,000 tampons: 13.6% positive

In Italy, at least since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic 542.789 people (+ 17,012 * compared to yesterday, + 3.2%; yesterday +21,273) contracted the Sars-CoV-2 virus. Of these, 37,479 died (+141, + 0.4%; yesterday +128) and 268.626 have been discharged (+2,423, + 0.9%; yesterday +2,086). Currently the positive subjects of which there is certainty are 236,684 (+14.443, + 6.5%; yesterday +19.059) and are visible in the fifth column from the right of the table above; the count rises to 542,789 – as mentioned above – if there are also the dead and the healed in the calculation, counting all the people who have been found positive for the virus since the beginning of the epidemic.

THE tampons They were 124,686, or 37,194 less than yesterday when it was 161,880. While the rate of positivity around at 14% (precisely 13.6%): it means that out of 100 swabs performed 14 were positive; yesterday it was 13% (precisely 13.1%). This percentage gives an idea of the trend of infections, regardless of the number of tests performed. This is the map of the contagion in Italy.

Less infections in 24 hours they are due to the weekend effect due to the lower number of Sunday swabs (the ratio of positives to swabs higher than the previous day: in fact it went from 13 to 14%). This data does not stop the ascent of the epidemiological curve which brings the number of current positives today ever closer to that of total healed. The situation worsens – especially in the most affected Regions such as Lombardy struggling with an exponential growth of cases – due to the difficulties in activating contact tracing and the increase in patients in hospital: to see such a high number of patients in Covid wards we have to go back to the days between May 7th for intensive care and May 12th for inpatients – during Phase 2 – when the health facilities were emptying.

THE hospitalized patients with symptoms are 12.997 (+991, + 8.3%; yesterday +719), while the most seriously ill in intensive care I’m 1,284 (+76, + 6.3%; yesterday +80). These data are visible in the table above, in the left columns next to the names of the Regions. The greater number of hospitalized is located in Lombardy which has 2,459 hospitalized (+133 compared to yesterday) and 242 in intensive care (+11 compared to yesterday). Then there are: Piedmont with 1,849 hospitalized (+248 compared to yesterday) and 102 in intensive care (+8 compared to yesterday), Lazio with 1,599 hospitalized (+123 compared to yesterday) and 158 in intensive care (+12 compared to yesterday) and Campania with 1,191 hospitalized (+40 compared to yesterday) and 123 in intensive care (+10 compared to yesterday)

There Lombardy remains the most affected region for the fourteenth day in a row with +3,570 positives, followed by six more with four-digit increment: Tuscany (+2.171), Campania (+1.981), Lazio (+1.698), Piedmont (+1.625), Emilia Romagna (+1.146) and Veneto (+1.129).
