In Italy 8,804 new cases and 83 deaths, double yesterday. Lombardy, Campania and Piedmont are most affected


In Italy, at least since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic 381,602 people (+8,804 compared to yesterday, + 2.4%; yesterday +7,332) contracted the Sars-CoV-2 virus. Of these, 36,372 died (+83, + 0.2%; yesterday +43) and 245,964 were discharged (+1,899, + 0.8%; yesterday +2,037). Currently the positive subjects of which there is certainty are 99,266 (+6.821, + 7.4%; yesterday +5.252); the count rises to 381,602 – as mentioned above – if there are also dead and cured people in the calculation, that is, counting all the people who have been found positive for the virus since the beginning of the epidemic.

THE tampons They were 162.932 (10,736 more than yesterday which had been 152,196). One more tampon record. The percentage of positives identified today, compared to the number of swabs processed, is around 5% (precisely 5.4%), it means that out of 100 tests performed 5 were positive, just like yesterday when it was at 5%, but rounded up (precisely 4.8%). THE hospitalized patients with symptoms are 5,796 (+326, + 6%; yesterday +394), while the most seriously ill in intensive care I’m 586 (+47, + 8.7%; yesterday +25).

Go on to grow the epidemic curve in our country that since yesterday has exceeded the maximum peak of cases recorded on 21 March (that day +6,557 positives in 24 hours compared to just 26,336 swabs, with a percentage of positives on swabs of 25%, i.e. 25 cases found out of 100 tests performed) in full lockdown when health facilities were in difficulty with 17,708 total hospitalized patients at the time in our country and 2,857 in intensive care (793 deaths). The situation today is very different from that of March: we do not have nearly 18,000 hospitalized and 2,800 cases in intensive care, as then. In seven days, however, the infections doubled and hospitalizations increased by 40%, as Gimbe photographed, analyzing however the week from 7 to 13 October.

The Regions most affected today, which exceed a thousand new cases, are: Lombardy (+2,067) who holds the record of most cases for the third day in a row, Campania (+1.127) and Piedmont (+1,033). The regions that have the most people under treatment in health facilities are: Lazio (969 hospitalized; yesterday they were 937), Campania (762 hospitalized; yesterday there were 735) e Lombardy (726 hospitalized; yesterday there were 645) and the largest number of patients in intensive care is always in the same three Regions, Lazio (90; yesterday 85), Lombardy (72; yesterday 64) e Campania (66; yesterday 61).

Deaths are also increasing, from 39 on 12 October to 83 today – almost double yesterday’s 43 -, never so many since June 5 when the deaths were 85. That day the new cases were +518, while the total hospitalized were 5,301 (less than today) and the patients in intensive care were 316 total (much less than today). The largest number of deaths today is recorded in Lombardy (+26), in Veneto (+11) and in Campania (+9).
