In Italy, record of new infections: 7,332 in 24 hours (with over 152 thousand tampons), 43 deaths


In Italy, at least since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic 372,799 people (+7.332 compared to yesterday, + 2%; yesterday +5,901) contracted the Sars-CoV-2 virus. Of these, 36,289 died (+43, + 0.1%; yesterday +41) and 244,065 were discharged (+2,037, + 0.8%; yesterday +1,428). Currently the positive subjects of which there is certainty are 92,445 (+5.252, + 6%; yesterday +4.429); the count rises to 372,799 – as mentioned above – if there are also the dead and the cured in the calculation, counting all the people who have been found positive for the virus since the beginning of the epidemic.

THE tampons They were 152.196 (39,652 more than yesterday which was 112,544). This is an absolute record, considering that the average daily tampons are around 110,000 (excluding weekends). THE hospitalized patients with symptoms are 5,470 (+394, + 7.8%; yesterday +255), of which 539 in intensive care (+25, + 4.9%; yesterday +62).

In Italy there have never been so many infections in 24 hours. The maximum peak of +6,557 new cases was registered on March 21 against a low number of tampons, that is 26,336, but with the hospitals full and under stress: 17,708 total hospitalized at the time in our country and 2,857 in intensive care (the deaths were 793) . Continue then to grow the epidemic curve, but the constant increase in hospitalized and sick in intensive care to cause concern. The most critical situation in Lombardy which today has the record of new infections: +1.844, of which 504 in the Lombard capital, with a number of people in the ward that rises, from 546 hospitalized yesterday to 645 today, with 2 new admissions to intensive care. Here the doctors sound the alarm (the outbreaks in schools have doubled), while Antonio Pesenti, coordinator of the Crisis Unit of the Region, declares that Lombardy is ready to open the hospital in Fiera, in the event that patients undergoing therapy intensive should increase again. The other regions most affected, after Lombardy, are: la Campania which exceeds the 800 positive threshold in 24 hours (+818), the one feared by President Vincenzo De Luca which could lead to a new local lockdown, the Veneto (+657) and the Tuscany (+575). Boom of infections for Puglia which for the first time reaches over 300 new positives (+315).

There are currently 92,445 people on the national territory who have Covid-19 (excluding recoveries and deaths), a figure close to that of May 6 when the total positives were 91,528, the curve was downward and health facilities recorded 15,769 hospitalized and 1,333 people in intensive care. Today, the Regions with the most patients in hospital are: Lazio (937 hospitalized and 85 in intensive care), Campania (735 hospitalized and 61 in intensive care) e Lombardy.
