Today’s bulletin: 16,974 new cases and 380 deaths. The positivity rate rises to 5.3%

I’m 16,974 i new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday they were +16,168, here the bulletin). It goes up like this at least 3,826,156 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I’m 380 (yesterday it was +469), for a total of 115,937 victims from February 2020. People recovered or discharged they are altogether 3,200,196 is 21,220 those that came out of the Covid nightmare today (+20.251 yesterday). The positive current – the subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 510.023, equal to -4.637 compared to yesterday (-4,560 the day before), down from 6 April. There decline in current positives today – with the minus sign in front – depends on the fact that the healed, added to the deaths, are greater in number than in the new cases.

The swabs and the scenario

THE total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 319,633, or 15,133 less than yesterday when there were 334,766. While the rate of positivity 5.3% (the approximation of 5.31%): it means that out of 100 swabs performed, more than 5 were positive; yesterday it was 4.8%. Here is the map of the contagion in Italy.

More infections in 24 hours than yesterday, compared to fewer tampons. And the case-to-test ratio rises by half a point to 5.3% from 4.8% on Wednesday. Not really good news. For example, last Thursday (April 8) +17,221 cases were registered with a positive rate of 4.7%. on the weekly distance a slowdown of the epidemic is observed. This was shown by the independent monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation during the period April 7-13: -15.4% in new cases compared to the previous week, -8.1% in hospitalizations and -5.8% in intensive care (in any case with employment above the alert threshold). Deaths increase: + 7.5% in seven days according to Gimbe, excluding the 258 deaths in Sicily referring to the previous months. We must not be mistaken in the timing and methods for reopening, explains Health Minister Roberto Speranza to the Chamber.

There Lombardy the region most affected by the number of new infections – yesterday was Campania – with +2,722 cases (here the bulletin), thanks to over 52,000 swabs, which is the highest number of regional tests of the day, and thus its positive percentage marks 5.2%, in line with the national one. Above 2 thousand cases there is also the Campania (+2.224). They follow with a four-digit increment: Puglia (+1.867), Sicily (+1.450), Lazio (+1.330), Piedmont (+1.264, here the bulletin), Tuscany (+1.206), Emilia Romagna (+1.150) and Veneto (+1,085). Note the Calabria that above the threshold of 500 new infected for the third day in a row (from 13 April).

At the European level, the scenario becomes complicated. The situation in Europe is serious – says the WHO regional director for Europe, Hans Kluge -: 1.6 million new cases are reported every week. There are 9,500 every hour, 160 people every minute. it is only among the elderly that we are seeing a decrease in incidence, perhaps thanks to vaccinations of people at high risk.

The victims

Victims are decreasing: they are 380 against 469 yesterday (89 fewer). Only the Molise records zero bereavement, while the highest number of deaths in Lombardy (+65) which exceeds 32,000 overall deaths since the beginning of the epidemic.
