Today’s bulletin: 7,567 new cases and 182 deaths. Positive rate of 2.5% (below 3% for 4 days)

I’m 7,567 i new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday they were +8,085, here the bulletin). It goes up like this at least 4,146,722 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I’m 182 (yesterday they were +201), for a total of 123,927 victims from February 2020. People recovered or discharged they are altogether 3,683,189 is 13,782 those that came out of the Covid nightmare today (+14,295 yesterday). The positive current – the subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 339,606, equal to -6,402 * compared to yesterday (-6,414 the day before), down from 6 April with the sole exception of 2 May.

The swabs and the scenario

THE total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 298.186, or 11,160 more than yesterday when it was 287,026. While the rate of positivity 2.5% (the approximation of 2.53%): it means that out of 100 swabs performed, more than 2 were positive; yesterday it was 2.8%. Here is the map of the contagion in Italy.

Less infections in 24 hours than yesterday,, with a positive test ratio that changes little, reaching 2.5% from the previous 2.8% below 3% for the fourth consecutive day. The swinging curve begins to drop, as it always does before the weekend. From the comparison with last Friday (May 7), when +10,554 cases were registered with a positive rate of 3.2%, we can still see an improvement in the scenario. Recall that the number of new infections are below the threshold of 10 thousand for the sixth consecutive day. There were no such low data (with a weekly peak of 8 thousand cases) even in February between the second and third wave, just look at the graph of the curve below. Additionally, the national Rt index dropped to 0.86 from 0.89 last week. Our country shows a gradual decline, slow but continuous, in all regions, explains the president of the Istituto Superiore di Sanit, Silvio Brusaferro.

There Lombardy the most affected: +1,160 infections thanks to 44,000 swabs, which is the highest number of regional tests of the day, with a rate of 2.6% which is almost in line with the national one (here the Lombardy bulletin). Above one thousand only follows Campania: +1,118 cases with a rate of 4.8%. All other regions report a two- or three-digit increase.

The victims

Victims are decreasing: they are less than 200 for the fourth time in May (see +144 deaths on Sunday 2 May, +139 deaths on Sunday 9 May and +198 on Monday 10 May). The saddest data is reduced, after those of cases, hospitalizations and intensive care. Three regions that have zero bereavement – these are Valle d’Aosta and the Provinces of Trento and Bolzano – while the highest number of deaths in Puglia (+24), Campania (+24, of which 19 died in the last 48 hours and 5 in recent days) and Lombardy (+23).
